IMMEX IN RECORD TIME

The Challenge:

The client needed to start production and make their first export three months after signing the lease for the building. As a company that pays taxes under the maquila regime, they needed to obtain the IMMEX Program to take advantage of the corresponding tax benefits.

However, when hiring an independent shelter service, the client did not have the necessary permits or adequate facilities, which complicated obtaining the IMMEX Program within the required three-month period. This put at risk both the start of operations and the ability to meet their export commitments.

The Solution

To ensure that the client obtained the IMMEX Program within the required time, our team applied its experience in regulatory compliance and industry best practices. We identified the minimum requirements that the authority requires for approval of the IMMEX Program, ensuring that the building complied with these specifications. We worked in collaboration with the compliance department, the client, the owner of the industrial building, and the construction company to guarantee that the necessary adjustments were made within one month.

IMPLEMENTED REQUIREMENTS

Prodensa had one month to prepare for IMMEX application.<
Administrative Offices A designated space with tables, chairs, lighting and connectivity for about 15 administrative employees and meetings.
Restrooms & Cafeteria Common spaces for employees in compliance with Mexican NOMs.
Production Line At least one processing machine and an assembly line in order to start the IMMEX process.
Building with Docks Complied with building requirements including one dock for imports and one for exports.
Temporary Import Space Designated and marked area for storage of temporary imports
Finished Goods Space Designated and marked storage of finished product

The Results

Thanks to the efficient implementation of our service in the preparations for application, the client obtained the IMMEX Program in only 3 months, which allowed all of their material from that moment on to be imported temporarily. This resulted in the following quantitative and qualitative benefits:

  • Reduction in fiscal costs: By importing material temporarily under the IMMEX Program, the client achieved a significant reduction in the payment of taxes, reducing their operating costs.
  • Agile compliance: The implementation of the adaptation process allowed compliance with the requirements in a much shorter period than average, avoiding the 12 months it would have taken to obtain the IMMEX Program without this intervention.
  • Operational efficiency: By accelerating the preparation process of the IMMEX Program, the client was able to start their production and export operations as planned, improving their cash flow and their ability to meet their export commitments.
  • Competitive advantage: The rapid acquisition of the IMMEX Program provided the client with a transition of operations with minimal disruption, allowing them to continue fulfilling orders and avoid negative impact to contracts.

A Success Story

How Prodensa Got it Done

The client was able to produce their first finished product under the IMMEX regime within four month of signing the lease for the new manufacturing facility.

The keys to success?

"We were successful in working on a win-win solution with the owner of the building, so that the requirements for the IMMEX application were completed as a condition of the lease, and previous to signing. In reality, we had a great relationship with all the involved parties and that was the reason we had a successful flow to the project. Our deep understanding of the application process made sure we missed no detail; there was no time to waste."
